Sunday April 3 Petra/ Mt. Nebo

Woke up in the Morning to this view of the Valley of Moses, on the par of Escalante
Another view of the the Valley of Moses, he led the Israelites down through here on the way to the Promised Land

This is Mt Hor, where Aaron, brother of Moses died and supposedly is buried. There is a small white church built on the summit, hard to see in photo

This is at the entry to the Siq, only entrance to Petra.

You could get a ride to Petra in these crazy little horse carts.
Just like many slot canyons in Utah, but different once you get inside through.

A little camel-busting
Carved from the top down, The Treasury

Further down towards the town proper.

Inside the Royal Tomb, changed into a church later.

Temple Grounds

Traffic jam in the gap, right at the Treasury
This is in the village coming back from Petra, the story of Moses bringing water from the rock with the stick of Aaron, the spring is still active today and produces cold water in the summer, and warm water in the winter, the Spring of Moses. Too bad this act of pride on Moses part kept him from taking the Israelites into the Promised Land on his own.

This is the view from Mt Nebo, imagine the Israelites moving down this valley that Moses watched, he died and was translated from this site.

The approach to summit of Mt. Nebo.

Another view from the summit down into the Jordan River Valley and the Dead Sea to the left.
